Project Description

This installation used Mihir's PM Series — our flagship range of Pultruded FRP Counterflow cooling towers, manufactured at our own in-house pultrusion facility, the only one of its kind among Indian cooling tower makers. This gave complete control over design, manufacturing and quality for every structural component used on site.

The application called for a highly corrosive environment where the client would otherwise have needed to choose between an RCC cooling tower or one built with a stainless steel structure. The PM Series offered a third path — faster execution than RCC, at a lower cost than stainless steel — while cooling up to 4,000 m³/hr/cell.

What we did

Every PM Series installation starts with our in-house pultruded structure manufacturing, giving us end-to-end control over the components that go into the field — tested and certified by the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, before they ever leave the facility.

Manufactured Pultruded FRP Structural Components

FRP structural supports were manufactured in-house, offering corrosion resistance to a broad range of chemicals along with high strength at low weight — all tested and certified by IIT Madras.

Installed Induced-Draft Counterflow System

The tower was installed with an induced-draft counterflow design, continuous-formed casing for a smooth finish, and aerofoil-shaped hollow FRP fan blades for energy-efficient airflow.

Final Results

The completed installation delivered on the core advantage of the PM Series: a structure built for highly corrosive conditions, with construction and installation time significantly less than a comparable RCC cooling tower.

By opting for Pultruded FRP rather than a stainless steel structure, the client achieved a more economical outcome without compromising on corrosion resistance, strength, or long-term durability.
